Teaching and Thriving in Difficult Times

March 2 (eve.) & March 3, 2012

Princeton, New Jersey

Marilee Adams, Ph.D., MSW

Author: Change Your Questions, Change Your Life

Amazon #1 Bestseller in Learning in Organizations and Business

In a time of escalating pressures and demands, many teachers are wondering, “How can I have a                 sense of control and even thriving—as a teacher and as a human being?” and “How can I reinforce

the feeling of mission and excitement that made me want to be a teacher in the first place?”as

well as “How can I stay successfully focused on what I need—as well as what my students need?”

An informal survey conducted by the Inquiry Institute revealed key attributes that teachers who                                      considered themselves as “thriving” said were important or necessary:

·         A sense of choice and control in their own lives

·         Successful ways to get their “batteries recharged” and a sense of well-being

·         Personal tools and skills for keeping a positive perspective while managing the                                       inevitable stresses and pressures of teaching and life

·         Reliable personal and professional problem-solving strategies

·         Collaborative, satisfying, and mutually empowering relationships with colleagues

·         A sense of dignity, feeling valued, and proud to call themselves a teacher

·         Belief they’re making a positive difference in their students’ lives; that what they do matters

In this workshop, you will gain affirmation along with skills and tools for:

·         Engaging in mutually satisfying and collaborative conversations with colleagues

·         Asking yourself and others questions leading to more positive moods and communications

·         Building personal resilience as well as immunity to stress and negativity

·          Creating a positive action plan for experiencing thriving, well-being, and personal control

Based on 25 years of research and practice, the workshop is engaging, enjoyable & practical.
